Highlander Happenings … Apr.20.2022

Class meetings will be TODAY after the assembly.  Grades 8-11 will need to vote for Student Council officers.  I will bring the ballots to your class meetings.  Grades 6-11 will need to elect class officers for next year:  President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Student Council Representative.  The Class President and Student Council Representative attend Student Council meetings.

The Student Council is hosting a Blood Drive in the Community Room TODAY from 10:30am to 4:00pm (LifeServe needed to change the time from the normal 12-5:30).  If you would like to donate, please go to www.lifeservebloodcenter.org or email me and I can schedule you also.  The Student Council thanks you for your support!  If you are 16 or 17 and this is your first time donating, please see Mrs. Fryda for a permission form.  To register please go to www.lifeservebloodcenter.org or see Mrs. Fryda.

State FFA Convention: Scotland is sending seven teams (Ag Communications, Agronomy, Floriculture, Livestock, Natural Resources, Vet Science, and Farm Safety Quiz Bowl) to the State FFA Convention in Brookings on Sunday, April 24th through Tuesday, April 26th. 

    1. Thank you notes need to be written by each team, individuals receiving state degrees, and general convention attendees. Please make time as a team to come in for practice and writing of thank you notes this week. These have to be done before we get on the bus on Sunday.
    2. To watch the general sessions live go to https://www.sdaged.org/state-convention and click on the session times on the top left hand corner. 
      1. Three individuals will be receiving their State FFA Degree at Monday night’s session.
      2. Tuesday morning we will find out what place we are for National Chapter Area Finalist and CDE awards for individuals and teams will be given.

Degree Applications: These are available on the front table in the ag room. Please complete and return to Ms. Kaufmann by Thursday, April 28th by noon.

 

Scotland FFA Banquet

               The Scotland FFA Banquet will be held on Monday, May 2nd with the meal starting at 6pm. FFA members are required to be there and in their official dress at 5:45pm. We invite families, friends, and community members to this event.
